Apple is known for its innovation and vast patent portfolio. Its not always easy to guess an upcoming Apple product just on the basis of patents, but here is a recently filed application from Apple. Apparently Apple is looking at the possibility of having touchscreen IPS displays on macbooks. This is the same display they use on the iPad, but the same thing running on a full notebook structure doesn’t look very natural.
We have already handled Windows 7 based touchscreen PCs and apart from a little fun with a few apps, a touchscreen isn’t a significant utility IMO. However there might be a vaild point for Apple to integrate a touchscreen on a Mackbook AIR like device that runs a full MacOS instead or along with a iOS interface, making it a cool tablet combo. But then its just one of the 1000s patent that Apple has filed. Lets sit back and see what really comes up in the future!
